Please come out and help us increase our count numbers. Butterfly counts are a way to monitor butterfly populations, raise public awareness and spend some time with other butterfly enthusiast. Learn about local parks and nature areas. Butterfly counts are a good way to gauge the health of our gardens and our local environment for pollinators to ensure sustainable food sourcing in our area. The data collected at our counts is submitted for scientific research through several databases and tracked year over year.
Our summer count exceeded our expectations – we counted 376 butterflies and identified 16 unique species. Please come out and help us increase our count numbers. The program totals have increased to 2,230 butterflies and 41 species since we started in June 2021.
